Why are so many people so hostile to vocabulary and grammar?
Q. Sometimes it seems like even more than a provocative opinion, what some people really resent most is vocabulary and grammar. Why are vocabulary or grammar even worthy of comment? What's the deal? Okay... after reading the first four responses, clearly, I failed to word this properly... (Ahhh! Must be the bad grammar!) What I MEANT was... Why are so many people so hostile towards GOOD vocabulary and grammar? best answer comment: Excellent anecdote. Hardly anyone says it in so many words but if you read between the lines, the mostly uniform standard these days is that the assertively intelligent and articulate make undesirable employees. Every significant promotion I've ever earned inevitably only made my undesirable attitude and demeanor… [cont.]

A. When a person reads your questions or answers(if they are not knowledgeable) they may be offended because they expect you to "dumb yourself down" otherwise you are considered pretentious. For the record, reading your questions and answers are quite refreshing. Probably because I like to think.
